Snowy Monaro Regional Council is currently undertaking a reform of its strategic planning framework to ensure local planning controls and decisions are in line with the community’s expectations.
Council released a planning and land use discussion paper in March 2019 and undertook 10 weeks of community consultation to help develop the Draft Local Strategic Planning Statement.
At its Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday 20 February, Council endorsed the statement for public exhibition. Council is encouraging the community to provide their feedback until and midnight Sunday 5 April.
The Draft Local Strategic Planning Statement is an overarching, strategic planning document, linking the South East and Tablelands Regional Plan to local planning documents such as the Local Planning Strategies, Local Environmental Plans and Development Controls Plan.
The Draft Local Strategic Planning Statement identifies a vision for the next 20 years and 12 core planning priorities for the region.
The statement outlines how these planning priorities can be implemented throughout the region by considering their impact on towns and villages in the Snowy Monaro.
A series of community consultation sessions will be held in the coming weeks. A list of dates and locations is available on Council’s Your Say Snowy Monaro platform, at each Council office or by contacting 1300 345 345.
The draft plan and supporting information will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 26 February 2020 until Sunday 5 April 2020 at the following location: Snowy Monaro Regional Council Offices, Cooma - 81 Commissioner Street, Cooma Berridale – 2 Myack Street, Berridale Bombala – 71 Caveat Street Bombala Jindabyne – 2/1 Gippsland Street Jindabyne
