A festival showcasing the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef through film and photography is set to return to Cairns this year.
Council will provide more than $11,500 in support to the Great Barrier Reef Underwater Film Festival at the Cairns performing Arts Centre in September.
Previously named The Cairns Underwater Festival, the event was established in 2007 and ran each year until 2014, when the Cairns Civic Centre was closed for the CPAC construction.
After a five-year hiatus, the unique festival is to make return this year at CPAC, and is expected to attract hundreds of visitors to the region and gain international attention.
