Council is committed to keeping community informed in relation to water discolouration in Clermont as new information becomes available.
Council have successfully completed flushing of discoloured water from the Clermont network. For more than 48 hours clear water has now been consistently produced through our water treatment plant and distributed through our town supply network.
Council have successfully optimised the treatment process to address the recent discolouration while maintaining safe drinking water. Discolouration occurred due to heightened levels of manganese and iron suspended within the water stored at the Theresa Creek Dam reservoir. Recent heavy rain events had elevated the levels of these naturally occurring minerals within the water supply. Clear water has now been continuously produced through the processing facility since Wednesday evening (26th February).
Council is continuing to monitor water quality by undertaking regular testing and sampling. Water samples taken have been independently tested at the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) accredited laboratory and are within the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
Residents who continue to experience instances of discoloured water should run their taps for up to five minutes, to remove discoloured water still present in their residential pipes. To utilise the discarded water, it is recommended using on your garden or lawn. If discolouration continues please notify our Customer Service Centre, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).
Residents are reminded that Council has made laundry additives (Citric Acid) available at the Council offices, corner Karmoo and Daintree Street Clermont. Please follow the instructions on the fact sheet supplied. If you are unable to collect laundry aid during business hours from Council Offices at Clermont, please contact our Customer Service Centre, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).
