Yesterday, the Local Disaster Management Group raised its activation level from ‘Alert’ to ‘Lean Forward’.

The group also met to discuss the current COVID-19 situation where the Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group, Mayor Mick Curran asked each of the organisations to run through their business continuity plans and any future planning to support a multi-agency response if required.

“It’s important for the agencies and services across the region to work together, keep up-to-date of the important work each agency delivers and how we can best support this work, and more importantly our community.” Mayor Mick Curran said.

“We know the lead agency is the Queensland Health Department, and there’s a vital conversation around how do we support their work?”

At this stage the group won’t progress to ‘stand up’ activation level, however we will continue to monitor the situation, and should this change, we’ll update the community.”
