City Connect Bus service suspended

As part of Fairfield City Council’s ongoing efforts to protect the community’s health and wellbeing, Council has suspended its City Connect Bus services.
Council decided to take this proactive step in line with accelerating efforts to curb the spread of Coronavirus in Australia.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Council has acted to protect the health and wellbeing of residents, as well as staff who operate the bus service.
“I know there are many in the community who rely on this service. Unfortunately the risk to passengers, staff and the broader community is just too great,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Due to the size of the bus and the reduced number of passengers we can take to meet social distancing rules, we have had to cancel the service.
“State Government-run bus services continue to operate.
“I encourage everyone, wherever possible, to say at home. However, if you know someone – a family member, neighbour or friend – who needs assistance in getting household essentials, please reach out and help in any way you can. Together we will get through this.
“Council remains committed to providing access to the services that you need, and will continue to keep the community updated.
“I thank everyone for their patience and cooperation in this challenging time.”
