Western Downs Regional Council is calling for final submissions for the Recycle Market Enviro Grants Program with applications closing next Tuesday 31 March.
The program is run in partnership with Council’s waste and recycling contractor IOLAR Operational Services and encourages local community groups to submit ideas that promote environmental sustainability across the Western Downs.
Project submissions could include conservation projects, waste and recycling educational initiatives, community health and well-being assets and more.
Council‘s General Manager for Community and Liveability Jodie Taylor said the grants are a win-win for the region, as they support community initiatives while also benefiting the environment.
“Our active, vibrant communities have shown interest in opportunities like this in the past so Council is offering our community groups the chance to bring their new project ideas to life,” Mrs Taylor said.
“The community make projects like this possible as forty percent of the money raised at our local Recycling Market Shops in Dalby, Chinchilla and Miles Waste and Recycling Centres is reinvested into this program.
“Council and IOLAR are very supportive our hard-working community groups so this is a great way to promote them and help get their fresh ideas off the ground.
“There are so many opportunities available for local groups to deliver fantastic projects for their towns so we’re encouraging community members to get on board and submit their final applications this weekend.”
The Recycle Market Enviro Grants are allocated to projects that contribute to the following criteria:
