COVID-19 Travel Permit

As a result of action taken by other agencies to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into the Cape York Councils a number of Police checkpoints have been set up within Mareeba Shire. Anyone who has to travel through the Police checkpoints will require a permit even if the travel is to somewhere within Mareeba Shire.

The permit will allow travel within Mareeba Shire ONLY, past police checkpoints. At present, Police are located at Mt Carbine and Chillagoe to restrict unnecessary travel to Cape York.  For travel into Cook Shire or Kowanyana Council, please contact those Councils.
