The Frankston Food Move

Frankston food lovers could win a family meal each week if they pledge to order online to help keep their local cafes and restaurants afloat during the pandemic. 

More than 140 people have signed a petition promising to order take away from their favourite eatery at least once a fortnight as part of The Frankston Food Move.

The awareness raising movement is a three-month campaign encouraging local residents to join the pledge and spread the word via their social media channels using the hashtag #theFrankstonFoodMove.

Participants who sign the pledge and share a photo of their meal on social media will go into the draw to win a $50 voucher from their chosen online venue.

Langwarrin’s Nicola Brown said she was more than happy to order her hot green chicken curry online from her favourite restaurant, Poppy’s Thai, in Langwarrin. 

“We are staying at home as much as possible right now, as I am able to work from home and my two kids are home from school,” Mrs Brown said.

“Ordering in will be a great help to us plus we want to do our bit for the local hospitality industry and keep them going through this for as long as possible.”

Caleb Cox, owner of Bowl’d in Frankston said supportive campaigns such as The Frankston Food Move were helping.

“We have a battle on our hands that we have never seen before and we need everyone to support local businesses as much as they can,” Mr Cox said.

“Just by sharing a post or tagging a business you are creating hype and a flow on effect which is making an impact during these heart breaking times.”

To join the The Frankston Food Move simply sign the pledge, order a meal from your favourite Frankston café or restaurant, take a pic and share on your social media.

The campaign has already been extremely successful, reaching about 20,000 people with over 4,000 locals engaged via social media, comments, pledges and shares.
