Some outdoor recreation activities in Corangamite Shire are out of bounds to help slow the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
In line with directions from the Federal Government, Corangamite Shire Council is closing all Council playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms.
Staff are currently putting up signs at all of the Council-managed facilities, which will remain closed until further notice, subject to further Government advice.
The National Cabinet agreed on the weekend that playgrounds, skate parks and outside gyms in public places would be closed.
Bootcamps will be reduced to two persons, including the trainer.
Recreation Reserves will remain accessible so people can continue to exercise, which is one of the four exceptions to staying at home under coronavirus pandemic control measures. Residents can go out to buy food or essential items, for medical visits, and to work or study if it can’t be done from home.
Anyone using the reserves will be required to observe responsible social distancing: not gathering in groups of three or more and maintaining a minimum 1.5 metre distance from other people.
They should also wash their hands as soon as they have access to soap and water after exercising.
