While the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the Far North yesterday  (Thursday 19 March) following the arrival of an international traveler, Mayor Tom Gilmore is asking residents to remain calm. “We are a strong and resilient community, and together we will get through these uncertain times.”

“Council has plans in place to ensure essential services are not impacted should there be an outbreak of the virus in the Shire.

“Our disaster management team is meeting regularly and is in constant contact with Queensland Health and other agencies.

“We will continue to monitor this very active situation and follow advice from the State and Federal Governments to help slow the spread of this virus.
