The Planning and Design Code is the cornerstone of South Australia's new planning and development systems. It will offer a single set of planning policies for assessing development applications across the state.
At this stage it is anticipated that Phase Three of the Planning and Design Code will become operational in councils with regional towns and cities, including The Barossa Council, in September 2020.
Council is keen to ensure the Barossa’s unique character is protected under the Planning and Design Code 3 amendment. Council is working collaboratively with the State Government to safeguard local policies that have been prepared by, and in consultation with, local communities over many years.
Council resolved at its February 2020 Council meeting to ask the Commission to re-engage with councils and the community prior to final approval of the Code Amendment.
Consultation on the Code has closed.
