Cattle numbers from Queensland totalled 6872 head offered online on AuctionsPlus last week, up 1300 on the previous week.
Last week saw a record price for AuctionsPlus with light heifers selling to a top of 686c/kg, while southern Queensland continues to sit top of the regions for stock listed, offering 3200 head. The top priced heifers were a line of three to five-month-old 122kg Santa and Santa/Shorthorn calves from Goondiwindi.
PTIC heifers were back slightly last week, nationally averaging $1698, selling from $1320 to $2210. From Wallumbilla, a line of Charolais cross, Simmental cross and Santa Gertrudis cross heifers returned $1680. These 17 to 19-month-old heifers weigh 463kg and are PTIC to Angus bulls.
PTIC cows sold from $1060 to $2240, averaging $1671, down $159. From Bell, a line of Angus cross three to six-year-old cows PTIC to Angus bulls, weighing 527kg returned $1510 and will travel to NSW.
Cows with calves at foot averaged $2127, up $54, selling from $1270 to $2920. From Boulia, a line of two to four-year-old crossbred station mated cows, weighing 429kg with calves at foot sired by Brahman bulls, returned $1770 and will travel to Deniliquin, NSW.
Lighter steers under 200kg averaged 504c, down 3c, selling from 394c to 640c. The top price was returned by a line of Santa Gertrudis and Shorthorn cross, three to five-month-old steers weighing 134kg from Goondiwindi.
Steers 200-280kg sold from 272c to 558c, down 12c to average 459c. Feeder steers 330 to 400kg saw strong buyer interest with the offering receiving a 97 per cent clearance. Selling from 331c to 480c, the category averaged 412c, up 8c. From Aramac, a line of Droughtmaster cross steers, aged 12-16 months, weighing 347kg returned 421c.
Heifers 280 to 330kg averaged 381c, up 5c, selling from 328c to 453c.
SHEEPSheep and lamb number numbers from Queensland fell by 2600 head to see 7310 head offered. Across the platform Merino ewe hoggets sold between $131 and $242 to average $176, down $49.
From Longreach, 17 to 20-month-old 40kg Merino ewes sold for $191 to a buyer in NSW.
Nationally Young Merino breeders sold from $151 and $310, averaging $223, down $36.
There was a significantly larger offering of store lambs last week, with numbers reaching 21,048 head, up 7558. Prices ranged from 366c to 667c, averaging 502c, down 21c.
However, with over 20,000 head sold, crossbred lambs still achieved the same high clearance rates as the previous week of 95pc.
Highlights include July/Oct '19 drop, 30kg White Dorper mixed sex lambs from St George sold for $158 or 530c, and Sept/Oct '19 drop, 22kg first-cross White Suffolk mixed sex lambs from Goondiwindi sold for $145 or 662c.
