The North East Food and Wine Festival is returning on Saturday, March 14 for its 8th consecutive year.

The annual event will showcase a variety of food, produce, goods, wines, and beers.

The event spans across Junction Square, Church Street and Richardson Park.

2020 will see the festival as a twilight event once again, starting at 3pm and finishing at 8pm.

The North East Food and Wine Festival is instrumental in developing a sustainable food tourism market for the North East, as well as promoting regional visitation and overnight tourism.

It’s a great opportunity to build economic resilience for local businesses, particularly after the devastation of the bushfire.

The festival this year again promises something for all tastes, “It’s a really amazing occasion for locals to not only enjoy a pleasant afternoon out with their families and friends, but also a rare opportunity to become aware of the local food and beverage businesses that are operating in their own region,” explains Wodonga TAFE Events and Functions Coordinator, Katie Shalevski.

“This year we have some new and very exciting vendors coming along, as well as a few of the local favourites. This set to be our biggest event yet!”    Put together by Wodonga TAFE, and supported by local sponsors, Wodonga City Council, Development Victoria and Central Place, the North East Food and Wine Festival includes students from the TAFE’s Event Management courses who work with Katie to help bring the event to life.

"The festival gives our students hands-on experience working within a large community event," said Katie.

“They are able to gain insight into some of the many activities of what’s involved behind the scenes to run a successful event. Our students will also be able to see the different specialisations involved throughout the day, from traffic management, to bump-in, general trouble-shooting, and bumpout.”
