Council is committed to keeping our community informed in relation to water discolouration in Clermont as new information becomes available.

The Clermont Water Treatment Plant continues to produce clear water. As flushing of the water network continues residents should see a significant improvement in water clarity.

Divers remain on site at the clearwater reservoir attached to the Water Treatment Plant continuing to remove sediment deposits, which may continue to cause minor discolouration until works are completed.

Sediment removal is being progressed methodically to limit unnecessary sediment disturbance. Flushing has been slowed as to not exhaust water supplies as divers continue the thorough cleaning process in the reservoir tank. Works are scheduled at the Jefferies Street reservoir with more information to be supplied when works commence.

Isaac Regional Council Chief Executive Officer, in consultation with the Mayor, advises at the Ordinary Meeting Scheduled for 17 March 2020 at Moranbah Council Chambers, Batchelor Parade, Councillors will receive a report with a recommendation to apply a remission of water usage charges for the locality of Clermont for the period of the discoloured water event in accordance with Council’s Utility Charge Remission – Extraordinary Circumstances Policy (WW-POL-053).

The bulk water tanker stationed at Hoods Lagoon for residents to access water for general purposes has been extended as follows:

8am to 6pm, Thursday 5 March; and 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 6 March

Free bottled water for drinking purposes is available during business hours from the Clermont Council Office, corner Karmoo and Daintree Street. The bottled water was provided following the major discolouration Tuesday 3 March. As the water continues to clear up and as our test results continue to show Council are meeting the requirements of the Australian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines, the ongoing provision of bottled water will be reviewed Friday 6 March.

Free laundry additives (Citric Acid) continue to be available at the Council Office in Clermont. Please follow the instructions on the fact sheet supplied.
