Wyndham City Council is excited to display its stunning art collection for its first public exhibition, called Reveal.
Arts, Culture, and Heritage portfolio holder Cr Tony Hooper said the exhibition gathers the City’s art, accumulated over the past century, to provide residents with the opportunity to view the art we have right at our doorstep.
“Some of these pieces of art were gifted to Wyndham City from our sister cities and other pieces were commissioned or purchased by Council over the years,” he said.
“Through this art, residents will see the changes that have happened in our municipality through the lens of art.”
“One of the most famous works is Mirka Mora’s Young Devil with Rabbit charcoal drawing, purchased at the Melbourne Art Fair, just before her death in 2018.”
“This was one of her last original works and has become one of the central pieces in our collection.”
“Local and emerging photographers, artists, and sculptors will have their works displayed alongside a treasure trove of Wyndham artworks.”
“Reveal explores the City’s changing identity through a presentation of the historical, civic, and contemporary art collections.”
