Wyndham City is offering the Williams Landing community a space to borrow books, attend children’s programs and socialise with friends and neighbours.
From 16th March, Council will open a long-term pop-up library at Williams Landing Shopping Centre.
The pop-up library will be open Mondays from 9am to 3pm and Thursdays from 3pm to 6pm, upstairs at the shopping centre. Every program and the book lending service are free.
Learning City portfolio holder and Wyndham City Mayor Cr Josh Gilligan said Williams Landing residents expressed a need for a library to be set up locally, so Council decided to offer interim library services closer to home.
“The new pop-up library will offer local access to literacy and numeracy programs, social programs for parents and babies and a kids club.”
“Last year Wyndham was declared a UNESCO Global Network Learning City as an acknowledgement of Council’s work in helping residents improve their learning outcomes, and this pop-up library demonstrates our continued commitment to maintaining our status as an excellent Learning City.”
“The library will offer a space for residents to borrow books, learn, and engage in social activities with their children and neighbours.”
“We are looking at building a library in Williams landing in the coming years, but this is a great interim solution to allow residents to access books and programs without travelling too far.”
On Mondays Rhyme Time will be held at 9.30am and Baby Time, a session for parents and babies at 11am and 1.30pm.
On Thursdays the Kids Club will start at 4pm.
