Lithgow City Council is inviting all residents to become involved in shaping the long term vision for the Lithgow Local Government Area by having their say on Council’s draft Local Strategic Planning Statement.
Lithgow’s draft Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) sets the blueprint for land use planning in the Lithgow Local Government Area over the next 20 years and is currently on public exhibition for community feedback.
“The NSW Government requires all Council’s to prepare a LSPS to align local plans and priorities with the State’s strategic planning framework “, said Mayor Ray Thompson.
“It is important to work with the State Government and the community to ensure that the long term vision for land use planning in the Lithgow LGA reflects what our community wants to achieve to meet its changing needs. This land use planning work is very important and will, in some way, affect our whole community. It will ultimately inform the preparation of the next Lithgow Local Environmental Plan, which sets out what type of development can occur, where it can occur and the standards that each development must meet” Mayor Thompson added.
The draft LSPS is focused on four themes; Liveability, Infrastructure, Economy and Environment. Within each of these themes, Council has developed planning principles, priorities and actions that respond to the goals and directions of the State and Regional plans as well as balancing what is important to our community.
The LSPS identifies more detailed strategic planning work to be undertaken and will be kept under regular review.
From 6 March to 9 April 2020, the LSPS will be available for viewing on Council’s website at http://www.haveyoursay.lithgow.com/ and at Lithgow, Portland and Wallerawang town libraries. Council will also be hosting three drop-in sessions at each of the town libraries to give residents the opportunity to not only view the LSPS but to discuss it in more detail with Council’s Strategic Planning Team.
Further information on the LSPS, or on how to make a submission, can be obtained on Council’s Have your Say website or by contacting our friendly Strategic Planning Team on 02 63549906 or emailing [email protected].
