Gannawarra Shire Council has officially welcomed two new Councillors to the chamber.
Cr Jenny Fawcett (left) and Cr Andrew Gibbs (right) have both filled vacancies left by former Councillors Mark Arians and Sonia Wright following the announcement of their resignations last month.
“Congratulations to Cr Fawcett and Cr Gibbs for accepting the role of being a Councillor and representing the Gannawarra,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Thanks to Cr Fawcett and Cr Gibbs accepting these roles, residents in the Patchell and Yarran wards can be assured that they are now represented in the chamber by the correct number of Councillors.”
Cr Fawcett, who replaced Mr Arians as one of Council’s three Patchell Ward representatives, was sworn in to her role on 18 February.
Cr Gibbs was sworn in as a Councillor on 10 March and replaces Ms Wright as one of Council’s two Yarran Ward representatives.
“Council thanks the Victorian Electoral Commission for managing the process of filling the vacancies left by the resignation of the two former Councillors, as well as the community’s patience whilst these positions were filled,” Mayor Learmonth said.
