Support for dance championships

Council will provide $10,000 to support DanceSport Australia Ltd stage the North Queensland DanceSport Championships in Cairns.

The North Queensland DanceSport Championship, known for the past seven years as the Just Dance Ballroom Titles, has grown from a regional event into a national championship attracting local, intrastate and interstate competitors.

The Championships, to be held in July, will include dancers of all ages and abilities from across Australia competing in Ballroom and Latin American styles.

This year’s event will also see a para-dance event included in the program.
