New Ashburton CEO appointed

Shire of Ashburton Council have appointed Mr Kenneth (Kenn) Donohoe as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said she was pleased that Council were agreed in appointing Mr. Donohoe to the CEO position.

“Kenn’s extensive experience and local government knowledge will enable him to bring a high level of professionalism to the Shire of Ashburton” said Councillor White.

“He has served in local government for 30 years, with 20 of those in Executive roles at Town of Port Hedland, Shire of Broome, Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and Whitsunday Regional Council.

“I am confident Kenn is the best person to provide leadership and stability to the organisation along with a focus on engaging with our community, providing positive outcomes for our key infrastructure projects and achieving the goals in our strategic community plan”.

Mr Donohoe said he was looking forward to returning to the Pilbara.

“I keen to progress infrastructure projects that are in the pipeline, build on community engagement and strengthen relationships with Council and staff”, said Kenn.

Councillor White also acknowledged Mr Paul Sheedy, who will remain acting in the CEO position until mid-April.

“Paul has provided an exceptional level of knowledge and guidance to the Shire and has nurtured our relationships with our key stakeholders.

“I would like to thank him for his leadership these past few months and look forward to working with Kenn when he commences later in the year.

Mr. Donohoe has a high level of local government experience and is set to take on the role for a period of five years.

His appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process led by John Phillips Consulting.
