It’s that time of year again to register your furry friends, so Wyndham City Council can ensure their prompt and safe return, should they become lost.
In Victoria, all dogs and cats are required to be registered by law at three months old and have their registration renewed with Council annually.
Wyndham City Environment and Sustainability portfolio holder, Cr Heather Marcus said some residents were under the false impression that once their pet was microchipped, it was registered, but they are two separate - and essential - processes.
“Registering your pet with Council is as simple as filling out an application online or a form at one of our Council-run centres,” Cr Marcus said.
“If it is your first time registering your pet, Wyndham offers free registration for the period up to the following April.”
“Your Council registration covers everything your pet needs in the City such as dog parks, the municipal pound, dog waste bags and bins, animal management staff, the Annual Pet and Animal Expo, and of course reuniting you with your pet.”
A dog registration can costs from $25 to $167.50 a year and a desexed cat is between $12.50 and $120. (Cats must be desexed).
All 2020 registration forms must be completed by 10th April 2020.
Failure to register your pets comes with a $322 fine.
You can register online or download registration forms from www.wyndham.vic.gov.au or visit Council offices for a copy of the form.
