As part of our continued improvement to waste services, Bellingen Shire Council with funding assistance from the Environmental Trust as part of the NSW EPA’s ‘Waste Less Recycle More’ initiative have upgraded the Raleigh Waste Management Centre.
These upgrades include a new weighbridge with improved accuracy of charges, upgraded roads and improved traffic flow with an emphasis on safety.
The community and users of the site will now have changed access as we begin to direct traffic flow over the weighbridge. Signs alerting users to changed road conditions will be in place and we ask that users drive slower that usual to ensure the safety of all staff and the community.
All traffic movements in and out of the Raleigh Waste Management Centre will pass over the weighbridge with payments including cash and EFTPOS made directly to the operator on the weighbridge using a new computer system. This system accurately records and calculates relevant fees and charges based upon the weight and type of waste entering the site.
In line with this system and new set of Waste Fees and Charges were placed on exhibition in November to December and adopted by Council in January 2020.
The weighbridge is expected to become fully operational to the community from 18 March 2020 and we ask for your patience as both the staff and community become familiar with this change in practice.
