Retail workshops to boost local businesses

Western Downs Regional Council has partnered with local Chambers of Commerce and the National Retail Association (NRA) to deliver free retail workshops to boost local business and energize the Western Downs economy.

 The three-hour workshops will be held from Tuesday 31 March to Thursday 2 April in Chinchilla, Dalby and Miles and retail staff across the region are invited to attend.

The NRA will deliver two different workshops for local businesses with Dalby and Miles hosting a Retail Sales Workshop and Chinchilla hosting a Visual Merchandising Workshop.

Council’s Community and Liveability General Manager Jodie Taylor said this program would be a great benefit to the community.

“The retail sector is a key part of the diverse economy that we’re proud to have in our region, so Council is dedicated to supporting our local business owners wherever possible,” Mrs Taylor said.

“Workshops like these will give our retail workers the chance to take that next step forward in developing a successful retail business so I encourage them to get on board and come along.”

NRA Training Director Yvonne Williams said the association is eager to bring these workshops to the Western Downs.

“The National Retail Association is delighted to be working with the Western Downs Regional Council in the delivery of the Customer Service and Visual Merchandising workshops,” Ms Williams said.

“These are two of our most popular workshops and we deliver them nationally to retailers of all sizes, so it is exciting to be able to bring this type of training program to a regional Queensland area. 

 “Our workshops focus on practical strategies that can be actioned immediately to help encourage customers return to your business.” 

 The Retail Sales Workshop will cover strategies to maximise and facilitate sales based on customer needs while the Visual Merchandising Workshop will discuss an effective approach to using merchandise displays.
