A number of interested parties visited Lithgow last week to inspect rail infrastructure, UWS training facilities in Lithgow and rail heritage assets at the State mine location in response to an invitation from Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson.
Mr Rick Naylor from Sydney Trains, Eric Sidoti (UWS), Terry Garrett (ACM Training), Thad McGroarty (GHD) and Howard Fisher (Former Chairman Westfund) explored existing UWS campus facilities and toured the State mine and rail infrastructure proximate to Lake Pillans, to assess future potential for rail training activities in Lithgow.
“It’s a good start to get potentially interested parties together to discuss various ideas that could result in more activity in Lithgow, and this initial step I believe was a very successful first step” said Mayor Ray Thompson.
