Coronavirus update

Council is working to support our community and continue to provide services during the rapidly evolving outbreak. The health and safety of our community and staff is our top priority and we will strive to keep you informed.

Please do not attend Council facilities or services if you are unwell, have recently travelled or been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.

Continuing services & facilities Aged care and delivered meals

We are prioritising services to Bayside’s most vulnerable residents including our aged care and delivered meals clients. These services are continuing following strict hygiene and social distancing guidelines.

Immunisation sessions

These will continue as advertised following strict hygiene and social distancing guidelines. Influenza vaccinations for children between six months of age and up until age five, will commence as soon as the flu vaccine is released which is expected in April.

Maternal and Child Health

These appointments will continue as scheduled however via telephone or email (online applications may also be available). The nurse will contact you to conduct the consultation. All appointments including drop in sessions must now be pre-booked on 9599 4755 during business hours. 

Other services

Waste and recycling services, animal management, environmental health, parking and traffic and other services also continue to operate at the present time.

Closures

The Bayside Corporate Centre customer service counter will close at 5pm Tuesday 24 March until further notice:

For assistance with sharps collection, please call the Environmental Health Department on 9599 4417 to make an appointment. The closure impacts cash rates payments, planning matters and permit collections. We are currently making alternative arrangements however a full range of online services is available via this website under the Services tab.

Our libraries and the Bayside Gallery are currently closed. We are currently investigating ways to resume some contactless library services as soon as possible.  This is in addition to the vast array of online library services currently available to Bayside Library Service members right now.

Bayside Men's Sheds, Seniors' Citizens Centres and the Peterson Youth Centre are currently closed until further notice. 

Events

All events scheduled in coming weeks have been cancelled or postponed. Keep an eye on Council’s Facebook and Twitter pages for more information on any changes to scheduled events.  

Council meetings

Council and Committee meetings will proceed without members of the public present however the meetings will be livestreamed via Council’s website. Public questions will be read out at the meetings. Find out more about arrangements for Council meetings.

Staying safe

All visitors to Council facilities are encouraged to practice good hand washing hygiene. The best defence against the Coronavirus is washing your hands and social distancing, eg keeping 2m apart.
