City of Parramatta Council has postponed or cancelled a number of events following the Federal Government's ban on gatherings more than 500 people, and is putting additional precautionary measures in place at its community facilities in response to the Coronavirus threat.

"Council is taking this public health threat very seriously and we will be doing what we can to ensure community and staff safety at this time," City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.

"We are following advice from NSW Health, monitoring the situation daily and will adjust services as required."

The following events have been postponed or cancelled:

Telopea Family Fun Day and consultation for Sturt and Acacia Park upgrades - POSTPONED Epping Family Fun Day - POSTPONED North Rocks Family Fun Day - POSTPONED   Rosehill Family Fun Day - POSTPONED Winterlight - CANCELLED Citizenship Ceremonies - POSTPONED* Warami - CANCELLED

Parramatta Farmers Market

Riverside Theatres

Shows at Riverside Theatres are currently continuing as scheduled. The following additional measures have been put in place:

Staggering commencement and finish times to minimise risk of gatherings before and after performances. Council management at entrance to reduce crowd gathering and mingling. Reduction of tickets sales to cap at less than 500. Additional cleaning and sanitation. Early Learning Centres, Aquatic Centres and Libraries

All facilities and services currently remain open. Council is continuing to review local discretionary programs, which may result in activities or events assessed as higher risk being deferred or cancelled.

The following additional measures have also been put in place:

Signage updates with NSW Health advice. Increased cleaning and sanitation. Patrons and staff advised not to attend if showing symptoms of cold or flu. Parents asked to sanitise hands before entering Early Learning Centres. Events at Council-Owned Facilities

For existing bookings, Council will continue to liaise with organisers.

No new bookings are currently being accepted for mass gatherings.

Council is communicating with all staff on a regular basis, providing relevant health advice and putting a range of measures in place to help ensure the continuity of services to the community during this time.
