Lachlan Children’s Services currently is hosting a work placement student at its mobile venues in Tullibigeal and Lake Cargelligo.
Lachlan Shire Council is pleased to be able to offer opportunities for students wishing to further their studies and vocation.
Leanne O’Raffety is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, with the work placement enabling her to gain practical industry experience in her chosen field.
Work placement counts towards a student’s course credits and is a compulsory component of many vocational courses.
Leanne is no stranger to child care, having worked in the industry for over 20 years and has occupied various roles, currently at Murrin Bridge’s Murra Thinna.
As part of the work placement program, students have a number of written tasks to complete. They are required to actively participate in the routines of the service and become familiar with emergency procedures. Placement students also plan and present activities for the children. There is also a requirement to follow staff suggestions regarding planning and procedures.
Rachel Brook from Lachlan Children’s Services said she has been impressed with Leanne’s performance while at the service.
“Leanne has been very hands-on interacting with the children and we have enjoyed having her. We wish Leanne all the best with her studies,” said Rachel.
