Borough working to prevent spread of coronavirus

The Borough of Queenscliffe is working proactively to keep our community safe as the coronavirus situation continues to develop. From today, Council has made a number of changes to the way residents can access services that will allow Council business to continue while also ensuring the spread of the disease is limited.

“Here at the Borough of Queenscliffe, our first priority is the health and safety of our community,” said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor Ross Ebbels. “We’re constantly working with the Department of Health and Human Services and adjusting the way our services operate to reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading in our community.”

From Wednesday morning, the Borough has made a number of changes to service provision, including:

Council is remaining open for business via phone and email, but has closed its customer service desk at 50 Learmonth Street. Council is still delivering home care services to clients, however these services now include extra precautions to keep clients and staff healthy. The Geelong Regional Library Corporation has closed Queenscliff Library until at least Tuesday 14 April 2020. Council’s Visitor Information Centre on Hesse Street is still open for business via phone and email, but has closed to in-person visitors.

“We want to thank everyone for working with us while we make changes that protect the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Cr Ebbels. “We’d encourage residents to regularly check the Department of Health and Human Services website at dhhs.vic.gov.au for up-to-date advice from health experts. Following the recommendations of our experts will help keep us all safe.”
