In the interest of public safety and considering the factors surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Derwent Valley Autumn Festival.
Lisa Clarke, Secretary of the Autumn Festival Committee, said “We could not hold this event each year without our stallholders’ or the community’s support. As much as it pains us, we know this is the right thing to do to keep everyone safe while this pandemic is active. We thank the Derwent Valley community and all of our sponsors and stallholders for their understanding while we work through the details and hope to see everyone at our 20th anniversary next year.”
Derwent Valley Mayor Ben Shaw has thanked the committee for their work in preparing for this year’s festival and for making this hard decision. “This is a huge blow to our economy and in what should have been its 20th year, will be devastating for our community. We fully understand and support the decision the committee has taken and will look at ways to support this event to get back up off the ground when ready” he said.
Stallholders who have already paid fees for displays at this year’s festival will recieve refunds.
