“For the week ending 15 March, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.
“Within the urban Lithgow area last week, Council staff have focused their efforts on the asphalt patching of roads throughout the urban Lithgow area,” said Mayor Thompson. “In particular, staff have completed maintenance repairs on Tank Street, Hassans Walls Road, Caroline Avenue, Vista Place, Laurence Street, Pillans Road, Coalbrook Street and many others. Alongside this work, Council has been continuing its revolving mowing program with works completed at Tony Luchetti, Lithgow Basketball Stadium, Wirraway Estate, East Street, Lemnos Street and Enfield Avneue.”
“In the last week Council’s rural works staff have worked towards the maintenance and repair of a number of sealed road assets, in line with the works completed in Lithgow,” noted Mayor Thompson. “Bitumen seal repairs have been conducted on McKanes Falls Road, Sodwalls Tarana Road, Diamond Swamp Road, Range Road, Glen Davis Road, Magpie Hollow Road and Martins Road. On top of this, Council’s capital renewal program has been continuing with three roads resealed last week. William Street, Portland, Lidsdale Street, Wallerawang and View Street, Lidsdale have been resealed.”
“Over the last 12 months, Lithgow City Council has been advised of unapproved construction works being conducted within the public road reserve,” said Mayor Thompson. “Such works include the installation of gardens, kerb modifications, parking bay installations, driveway installations and tree removals and planting. While Council encourages members of the community taking pride in their property and the amenity of Lithgow generally, approval for any work undertaken on a nature strip or outside a property boundary requires Council approval. In most cases, such requests are reviewed and approved, however it is very important that the application is made. This allows Council engineers to assess the proposal and consider any risks to residents such as trip hazards, restrictions to line of sight and impacts to amenity of local streetscape themes. Any residents that wish to complete any modifications or improvements within the public road reserve are encouraged to refer to Council’s Policy 10.5 for further information.”
