COVID - 19

Council is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and following the guidelines of the relevant state

and federal departments. We are continuing to monitor developments and asses any potential

impact on Council’s services, facilities and events. As this is a rapidly changing situation

please follow BRC on Facebook and visit our website for regular updates and information on

event cancellations and more. We ask for your support and if you are unwell, please contact us by

phone or email rather than in person.

Community events

In the interest of public health and safety, Council has made changes to or cancelled the following events:

· April – May Village Meetings – cancelled

· NRL – ticket sales suspended

· Sustainable Living Expo and An Evening with Ed – cancelled and refunds will be provided

· High-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour – rescheduled to November

· Heritage Trades Trail – cancelled and refunds will be provided

· Chase the Rainbow – cancelled

· Harmony Day – Saturday March, 21 from 10.00am - 3.00pm in the Library and Gallery forecourt. The event has changed to an outdoor exhibition and installation to experience and celebrate Harmony. There will be no performers or activities.

Heritage Assistance Grants

Applications are now invited for small grants for the following funds:

Bathurst Region Heritage Fund

Provides small grants for the repair and maintenance of older buildings in the region. The program is supported by the NSW Heritage Branch of the Office of Environment and Heritage.

Bathurst CBD Main Street Improvement Fund

Provides small grants to assist property owners and tenants to improve, repair and maintain buildings within the Bathurst CBD.

Bathurst Region Interpretation Fund

Provides small grants for the preparation of Conservation Management Plans, historic publications and interpretation projects to promote and interpret the region’s history.

All applications close Friday 29 May.Applications for funding must be made on Council’s application form which is available on Council’s website at www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au or from the Civic Centre. For more information call 6333 6211.

Flying Fox Habitat Tree Planting

10am - Sunday 29 March

Help rebuild habitat for our city’s grey-headed flying foxes. Don your gardening gloves, embrace

the outdoors and lend us a hand to help replant native trees that were recently vandalised along

the banks of the Macquarie Wambul River! Commencing at 10am at the end of Morrisset Street (just near the Wastewater Treatment Plant) on the banks of the Macquarie River, adults and

kids alike can assist in planting native trees, that once mature, will provide important habitat for

this threatened species.

All equipment is supplied and volunteers are encouraged to wear enclosed shoes and a wide

brimmed hat. Although the Flying Fox Habitat Tree Planting Day is an outdoors event, Council will have health and safety measures in place to control the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Facilities will be made available for regular hand washing with soap and water, and social distancing processes will be implemented. If you are feeling unwell on the day please remain at home.
