Gympie Regional Council wishes to advise that all of its 6 libraries will close to customers from Monday 23 March until further notice.

Due dates for returns will be extended to 30 June, however this return date may be extended for a further period if required.

Customers will be able to return borrowed books by using the after-hours return facilities however, council’s preference is for customers to hold onto their books until libraries re-open.

Council’s Online Library will remain available 24/7 for users and offers access to thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and music and video streaming services.

Residents without an existing membership can contact the library to apply online for a digital membership from Monday to access the digital collection.

Library Wi-Fi facilities will remain free and accessible around library buildings during normal operational hours.

The free Home Library service for the aged, frail or disabled will continue, with the delivery service capacity increasing in the coming weeks. Council is also investigating other models for service provision.

Gympie Regional Council is working closely with Queensland Health and the Federal Government and will continue to be guided by these agencies on all matters of public health.
