Gannawarra Shire Council will be implementing extra precautions during its monthly immunisation sessions to assist with preventing the spread of Coronavirus.
Effective immediately, anyone wanting to attend Council’s immunisation sessions, held at Cohuna and Kerang, will need to book beforehand by phoning Council’s Customer Service Centre on (03) 5450 9333.
“Council’s immunisation sessions are well supported by the community and ensure that children are able to receive their scheduled vaccinations on time to prevent against vaccine preventable diseases,” Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Phil Higgins said.
“However, at this time measures need to be put in place to protect the community and our staff.”
To ensure social distancing practices can be maintained, pre-booked time slots will be allocated. It is strongly encouraged that only one parent or guardian accompany the child who is to be vaccinated when attending Council’s immunisation sessions.
“Community members attending will be asked to wash their hands in the sink provided on entry and extra precautions will be in place around infection control between appointments at these pre-booked sessions,” Mr Higgins said.
Immunisation sessions are held at the Kerang Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre on the first Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12 noon, as well as on the third Wednesday of the month between 4pm and 5.30pm.
Sessions at the Cohuna Maternal and Child Health Centre are held on the third Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12 noon.
“These measures, which will be in place until further notice, are part of Council’s continued efforts to prevent the risks associated with the spread of Coronavirus,” Mr Higgins said.
