At the Town of Bassendean we appreciate that small business owners may have concerns as the COVID-19 pandemic situation evolves. We wanted you to be aware of initiatives and relief packages available to you from local, state and federal levels as well as to let you know how to stay informed on any updates.

Business Relief Packages from the State government

The Western Australian Government has announced $114 million in measures to support small business.

The three measures announced for small business include:

●       The $1 million payroll tax threshold (announced in October 2019) will be brought forward by six months to 1 July 2020.

●       $17,500 grants for small businesses with a payroll between $1 million and $4 million.

●       Businesses impacted by COVID-19 can apply now to defer payment of their 2019-20 payroll tax until 21 July 2020.

Assistance from the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC)

To help businesses continue to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic, the SBDC have created the following free online workshops and webinars:

●      Crisis Communication

●      Conduct online meetings with Zoom

●      Seeking expert advice in uncertain times

●       Creating a risk management plan

●       Crisis management in the workplace

●       Strengthening your business through efficiency

●       Managing disruption to cash flow and supply chain

Business Stimulus Packages from the Federal government

The Australian Government announced a stimulus package on 12 March 2020 for businesses to help support you and your business through the challenges of the coronavirus.

The main areas of support relevant to small businesses are:

●       Cash flow payment of up to $25,000 for employers

●       50 per cent wage subsidy for apprentices and trainees

●       Increase in the instant asset write-off threshold to $150,000

●       50 per cent accelerated depreciation for investments
