Loads of prizes and exciting activities to enjoy as school holiday program goes online

Posted on April 1, 2020

Young people won’t have time to get bored these school holidays thanks to Central Highland Regional Council’s online holiday program.

In response to COVID-19, council has shifted holiday activities online. There’s an exciting suite of competitions to get involved in, all offering great prizes.

If you are a great singer or have a wonderful magic trick to share, then enter our online video talent contest.

Do you love performing stunts on your skateboard or scooter or practising new tricks on the trampoline? If so, our real-life trick shot contest sounds like just your thing. Record a video of your skilful moves for your chance to win.

If you love photography, then get your camera out and get snapping to be in the running for a great prize in our ‘home beauty’ photo competition. All you need to do is photograph something you find beautiful in your home – it might be your pet, the perfect sunset or fruit you’ve grown in your backyard.

Budding authors will be thrilled to put pen to paper for our short story competition or our poetry competition. The stories and poems must have been written in the school holidays so get busy writing.

Prizes up for grabs across the competitions include a Nintendo Switch Lite, Apple iPads, Go Pro Hero packs an Instax Mini Photo camera, Beats Studio 3 Headphones, gift cards and drones.

All competitions and activities are available for young people living in the Central Highlands aged 25 or under.

The competitions open this Friday 3 April and run until Sunday 19 April.

Youngsters can also head online to request free colouring in packs which will be delivered to their homes.

Council’s libraries also have lots of exciting free e-Resources to explore. Library members can use their library number and password to read, listen and watch from their personal device.

Free resources on offer include:

Access to National Geographic resources including magazines, imagery and a section just for kids. Borrow box for e-books and e-audiobooks RB digital for e-comics and e-magazines; and Kanopy film and documentary screening and Kanopy kids
