Byron Shire Council is encouraging residents and businesses to look at its draft Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) which has just been put on public exhibition.
The LSPS is a new legislative requirement from the NSW Government which is designed to link the State’s strategic plans with Council’s land use plans and guidelines. All NSW councils are required prepare their own LSPS by the 1 July 2020.
Alex Caras, Land Use Planning Coordinator, said the new LSPS is an important planning document, identifying the overall direction and priorities for land use planning to 2036 in the Shire.
“We have combined key planning priorities and actions under the broad themes of Environment, Liveability, Economy and Infrastructure into one accessible document, which is the LSPS,” Mr Caras said.
Byron Shire’s LSPS contains 14 planning priorities along with corresponding actions, timeframes and how Council plans to monitor and report on the delivery of the actions.
“By lining up all of our local plans and strategies with the NSW Government’s strategic plans we can get a very clear picture of any gaps that need to be addressed,” he said.
The draft LSPS is on exhibition from 2 April – 8 May 2020. For more information go to www.yoursaybyronshire.com.au.
