To help out the Meals on Wheels service in Harvey which has had an increased demand due to the COVID-19 crisis, staff from the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre and Harvey Library have volunteered to help cook and deliver meals in this time of need.

Meals on Wheels President Brian Keally said their volunteers dropped off because they were at high risk due to their age.

He said they had been many health and safety measures in place to ensure the kitchen and staff are protected from COVID-19.

He said it was most appreciated having these volunteers, especially when people need this service more than ever.

“Times like this bring out the best in our community,” Mr Keally said.

He thanked the Shire for its support and to the local community who have donated fresh produce.
