Council Rangers will help cafes and restaurants deliver food as part of a pilot program to support local business.

Five local restaurants and cafes who have recently started deliveries in response to the impact of the COVID-19 health measures will participate in the program.

“We are taking a proactive approach to helping our community and supporting our valuable local businesses during this extraordinary turn of events,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“It has been heartening to see the fantastic way in which many of our local cafes and restaurants have been supported by our community as they adapt their businesses to continue operating during this difficult period,” Cr Brticevic said.

“We’re committed to supporting local businesses and organisations and will continue to look at ways we can help,” he said.

The businesses in the program are Crave Espresso, Café Stamp, Macarthur Tavern, Chief’s Flame Grill Burgers and Raby Tavern.

Council will work with them to evaluate the success of the trial before it is potentially expanded.

“We’re really grateful for the support we’ve received from our customers and the wider community during this challenging period,” said Tracy Greenhalgh from Raby Tavern.

“We’re delighted to have Council on board to help us out and we look forward to working with the rangers to deliver some great food,” she said.

Council also announced earlier this week that Rangers would be conducting deliveries for Meals on Wheels to help the elderly and vulnerable in the community.
