Introducing Good Neighbour: Council supporting our community during COVID-19

Blue Mountains City Council is proud to launch its newest community initiative, Good Neighbour.

People often feel disconnected from each other at the best of times. And now, with restrictions on public movements and gatherings, it can be even harder to maintain relationships with those around you.

That’s why we’re launching Good Neighbour.

If you have a neighbour who is self-isolating, especially those in the vulnerable and at risk categories, fill out our Good Neighbour calling card to let them know you’re around if they need anything to help get them through.

What help you can offer is up to you – there’s a range of options you can tick on the card, whether it’s picking up some groceries or supplies, walking their dog or just having a friendly chat over the phone.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “This initiative is more relevant now than ever, as we all hunker down to weather the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’ve talked a lot about how amazing the Blue Mountains community is, and that we always get through tough times together.

“In the current circumstances, ‘together’ is a bit more difficult than normal and we have to think outside the box.

“We’re launching Good Neighbour now to help our residents find a safe way to do what we do best – help each other out and keep each other going.

“I also want to thank Penrith City Council for being a Good Neighbour and sharing this wonderful initiative with us,” Mayor Greenhill said.

A copy of the Good Neighbour calling card will be sent to all households in the next Community Newsletter at the end of April, and can also be downloaded from Council’s website at: www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/goodneighbour
