Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson, has been delegated authority by Lithgow Council to determine the policy making functions of Council during the current COVID – 19 emergency.

“Council’s actions represent a significant vote of confidence in Mayor Thompson to continue to steer us through the COVID 19 crisis as he did during the Bushfire Emergency, and that is why I moved the motion supporting the delegation during this crisis” said Cr Wayne McAndrew.

“The delegation is subject to regular reporting and review, and in my opinion is a common sense approach putting the interests of our residents first and foremost in facilitating quick decision making when it can reasonably occur” said Cr McAndrew.

“Council has convened for the first time using remote teleconferencing and using block voting where possible to get through the business of Council during this crisis, and I know the Administration is looking at ways to accommodate public input within the limited constraints that we are currently faced with during this period” said Cr McAndrew.
