Following advice from the NSW State Government in the form of Public Health Orders recently issued, Lithgow City Council has closed Hassans Walls Road to vehicular traffic until further notice.

Current NSW Public Health Orders have placed strict restrictions on gatherings of more than two people, the closure of certain premises and certain exemptions that are in place to ensure the health and wellbeing of the public. In line with the developing COVID-19 pandemic, Lithgow City Council has closed Hassans Walls Reserve to vehicular traffic until further notice.

However, it is understood that exemptions are in place to promote physical wellbeing in the form of reasonably isolated exercise. Therefore, Council will continue to allow pedestrian and cyclist access to the Hassans Walls Reserve for this purpose only. Please note that should any resident or visitor be found to remove barricades or otherwise attempt to access the Reserve by vehicle, action by authorities, including fines, could be imposed under the Inclosed Lands Protection Act 1901.

The partial closure of the Hassans Walls Reserve is consistent with similar decisions being made in other States and Territories, with regular communications also being provided by the NSW Government and the NSW Department of Health.
