Plowman Place residential development on the horizon

Frankston City Council has approved a residential development which will create 79 homes and 800 jobs in the city.

The nine storey residential apartment building by developer Urban DC was approved by Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 30 March and will be constructed at 1-2 Plowman Place, Frankston.

Frankston City Mayor, Cr Sandra Mayer, said this was a great outcome, particularly considering the economic challenges being faced in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m so proud we were able to support this important project which will provide a much needed boost for those looking for jobs and homes locally,” Cr Mayer said.

“The plans look great and are proof that developers still have confidence in investing in Frankston City.

“Even in this tough economic climate we have so much to look forward to.”

The building’s curved façade was designed by Elenberg Fraser Architects to sit nicely in the natural environment and includes built-in planter boxes and a roof top communal garden.

Developer Danny Ciarma of Urban DC said he was keen to get construction on the ‘Horizon’ project started by late this year.

“The site is elevated and has sweeping water views from ground level which will never be blocked out. The horizon can be seen from every level of the building, hence it has been named Horizon”.

Mr Ciarma said he thought the apartments would particularly appeal to downsizers and first home buyers, with one, two and three bedroom options available.

“I am pleased that Council saw and understood the quality we were striving for with Horizon and am excited to start construction.”
