Happy Easter Moree Plains A message from Mayor Katrina Humphries

Happy Easter to you all.

While times have been tough on everyone and we are all a little frazzled, I would like to tell you all that I have never been so proud of the community which is the Moree Plains.

Your tolerance and kindness has been refreshing; your willingness and commitment to accept the “new norm” with little resistance has been astounding and the respect that has been demonstrated amongst community members has left me speechless. Our locals that are busting themselves to keep us safe and well and prepared for whatever the future may look like, need a huge applause.

Stay kind, keep digging deep for a heartfelt smile and take a few big deep breaths when patience is tested and we will all come out the other side of this a little bit more tolerant and community-minded.

With no confirmed cases in our Shire, we are in a very fortunate and revered position. Let’s keep up the good work and do our very best to take personal responsibility for our actions – no-one wants to be responsible for bringing this insidious virus into our Shire.

For now, we are possibly living in one of the best places in the world (but you all already knew that anyway!).

Whilst visitors are most firmly not welcome in the Shire at the present time, I have conferred with my Federal and State Government counterparts to confirm that the Easter Bunny’s work over this weekend is most certainly essential services.
