A further $50,000 in Community Care Package funding has been pledged to three local community groups to support their efforts in responding to the COVID19 health pandemic. This brings the Shire’s funding allocations made from the $2m funding package to $163,000 in the three weeks since the package was first was announced. The most recent funding recipients include:
Augusta Community Resource Centre ($8,605) – Funds will be used for virtual community engagement and training opportunities, upskilling and re-employment support. Margaret River State Emergency Service ($170) – Funds will be provided for a six-month Mindful Margaret River and the Lishman Health Foundation ($41,850) – Funds will focus on supporting local businesses with training, planning, transitioning to an online business delivery model, finding relevant support services, lock down activities, and staying engaged.Shire President Ian Earl said he was pleased to see applications for Community Care funding continue to come in for consideration. “There is great appetite within existing community groups and support services to bolster their offerings to the community,” he said. “These three latest funding recipients all have a deep understanding of what is most needed at grassroots level. “I know your efforts will be resonate with the and these extra offerings will be greatly appreciated by many. “Thank you for all the fantastic ideas that you have put a great deal of thought into and presented for funding. “Council is very pleased to be supporting you, supporting our community.” The first round funding recipient was Margaret River Community Centre and Just Home who together received $113,000 for additional emergency relief and housing support. This fund continues to be open for proposals to deliver more COVID-19 recovery initiatives.
