Livingstone Shire Council has voted to appoint Councillor Adam Belot as its Deputy Mayor following today’s post-election Council meeting.

Deputy Mayor Adam Belot said he was honoured to be nominated for the position and is looking forward to fulfilling the important role on behalf of the Livingstone community.

“It’s a momentous day for me to be elected as Deputy Mayor of Livingstone Shire Council, and first and foremost I want to thank the Councillors who have placed their faith in me to carry out this extremely important role,” Cr Belot said.

“I make a commitment to the Livingstone Shire that I will serve you as your Deputy Mayor and I will do my utmost to support our Mayor Andy Ireland in his role in leading our community and driving our region forward.”

The new Council also voted to appoint Mayor Andy Ireland as Chairperson and Councillor Glenda Mather as Deputy Chairperson of the Livingstone Shire Local Disaster Management Group at today’s meeting.

Council resolved to proceed with a Councillor Portfolio framework as well as consider and adopt an appropriate Councillor Portfolio Policy and suitable designation of Portfolio responsibilities to respective Councillors.
