Measures remain in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19
Shire of Ashburton 17 Apr 2020

Community members are reminded that social distancing measures and travel restrictions continue to be in place as we work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Reports this week are showing that the efforts we are all taking are making a difference but it is also too early to remove the restrictions in place.

We are continuing to follow the advice and guidance of Federal and State Government and our Shire playgrounds, parks, ovals, skate parks and dog exercise areas remain closed.

Travel outside the Pilbara is restricted and you should only be leaving your house for four essential reasons that include grocery shopping, medical reasons, work or study if you are unable to undertake at home and exercise.

There has been a fantastic demonstration of community spirit and kindness in all of our towns with community members coming together with ideas on how to connect with neighbours and friends while adhering to social distancing, and how to entertain children who are now housebound and a special effort to reach out and assist those who cannot get to the shops by picking up essential items.

Remember it is important to look after your mental health in such a challenging time, stay connected with family and friends by phone or video calls, stay active and seek help if you are feeling worried or struggling with how to cope during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A dedicated helpline to keep the community informed about COVID-19 coronavirus is available by dialling 13COVID (132 68 43). People living in Western Australia have access to the latest information regarding the impact of the virus in WA. The hotline operates seven days a week, from 7am to 10pm.
