Project update: water maintenance works in Springsure,Blackwater and Rolleston

Central Highlands Regional Council is overhauling up to 110 water hydrants and valves across the region to bring peace of mind to firefighters and customers.
Overhauling and replacing hydrants and valves will not only provide reliable water access to firefighters and customers but save water. Most of the hydrants are anywhere from 30 to 70 years old and are either not working anymore or are leaking.
Works are currently underway in Blackwater, Bluff, Capella, Rolleston and Springsure.
Blackwater – extended night water asset replacement works – Updated Thursday 30, April 2020
Additional night water asset replacement works are taking place in Blackwater. Night time works are taking place until Tuesday 26 May 2020 with working hours between 10pm-4am. These night works were previously scheduled to finish on Friday 5 May 2020, however this has been extended due to a minor change in the contractors sequencing of the works.
The works are taking place across several streets in Blackwater and will include four isolations, with each isolation taking up to 2.5 hours.
Affected households and businesses have been provided advance notice of the works via a letter box drop.
Upcoming works – Tieri and Emerald – Updated Thursday 30, April 2020
Night water asset replacement maintenance works will begin across several streets in Tieri on Friday 5 May and will continue until Monday 15 June 2020. Works will take place between 10.00pm and 4.00 am.
Five isolations of water mains will be carried out during this period and will last up to 2.5 hours.
Affected households and businesses have been provided advance notice of the works via a letter box drop.
Water asset replacement works will also take place in Emerald in June 2020. Impacted households and businesses will receive a letter notifying them of details ahead of the works.
Springsure
Night water main maintenance works are underway across several streets in Springsure and will continue until Tuesday 12 May 2020. Works are taking place between 9.00pm and 5.00 am.
Affected households and businesses have been provided advance notice of the works via a letter box drop.
To enable works to occur, sections of water mains must be isolated in order to replace existing assets. One isolation will occur over the period, with each isolation lasting up to 2.5 hours.
These works are an extension of existing works in Springsure which were due to conclude on Saturday 11 April.
Blackwater
Day time water main maintenance works are underway across several streets in Blackwater and will continue until Tuesday 12 May 2020. Works are taking place between 8.00am and 5.00 pm.
Affected households and businesses have been provided advance notice of the works via a letter box drop.
To enable works to occur, sections of water mains must be isolated in order to replace existing assets. A total of three isolations will occur over the period, with each isolation lasting up to 2.5 hours.
These works are in addition to the night water main maintenance works which are taking place in Blackwater until Friday 5 May 2020.
Rolleston
Water main maintenance works are underway across several streets in Rolleston and will continue until Friday 8 May 2020. Works will be carried out between 9.00 pm and 5.00 am.
The maintenance program is an extension of existing works which were due to conclude on 13 April.
Affected households and businesses have been provided advance notice of the works via a letter box drop.
To enable works to occur, sections of water mains must be isolated in order to replace existing assets. A total of four isolations will occur over the period, with each isolation lasting up to 2.5 hours.
The works are being completed by contract company Goodline.
