The car parks at Elsternwick Park, Ricketts Point and Castlefield Reserve are being resurfaced and landscaped to make them safer and more accessible for visitors.
Works will be staged between late April and early July to minimise disruption, as Council takes advantage of Bayside’s quieter parks and reserves during Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
These works are part of Bayside City Council’s car park renewal program, which aims to ensure local car parks are compliant with current regulations and provide accessible, safe parking, while protecting the local environment through native landscaping and appropriate drainage.
Elsternwick ParkThe car park at Elsternwick Park, accessed from St Kilda Road, services the new sports pavilion and grounds at Oval 2. Works will begin in late April and run for approximately four weeks, weather permitting.
Ricketts PointIn June, the B18 car park at Ricketts Point, Beaumaris will be resurfaced with new lines marked to provide safer, more accessible parking for the many visitors to the marine sanctuary and Teahouse.
The B18 car park is located south of the Teahouse between the two crossovers to Beach Road. The sealed surface of this car park is disintegrating and uneven from patched repairs over the years, so resurfacing in asphalt will improve both safety and resistance to erosion. No works are proposed for the unsealed gravel parts of the road and carpark. Access to the Beaumaris Life Saving Club will be maintained and the B17 car park will remain open.
The resurfacing works at Ricketts Point car park are scheduled to run for approximately four weeks.
Castlefield ReserveFollowing Ricketts Point, the car park at Castlefield Reserve in Hampton will be upgraded. This car park services the popular sportsground and renovated pavilion. Works are expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
