In an effort to gain a better understanding of the community’s priorities for Council’s annual budget, Livingstone Shire Council is launching a public survey to encourage feedback and inform residents via the online engagement platform, Get Involved.

Year on year Council has sought to strategically build on the solid foundation of previous years. Mayor Andy Ireland said a budget serves many purposes, including providing a flexible working plan for running the Council in the coming year and converts Council’s long- and-short-term plans and policies into services and programmes.

“It also establishes the amount of revenue expected to be available, which sets limitations on the amount of expenditure which can be supported, as well as the costs of providing services and programmes,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Furthermore, the budget sets priorities to determine how the resources will be allocated among the services and programmes our community expects and needs.

“Council welcomes input from the community to gather their ideas and suggestions with the intention of working directly with the public throughout the process to ensure their concerns and aspirations are considered.

“I encourage members of the community to participate in the survey as it is your opportunity to have your say as part of the formulation of the budget.”

Budget deliberation with Councillors is scheduled to commence from 22 April 2020, with Budget Adoption to take place on 28 July 2020.
