Walking the dog has become a great reason to get outdoors and escape COVID-19 lockdown measures, but owners are asked to consider other pedestrians when taking pets out for a stroll.
The increase in people walking dogs has also unfortunately led to an increase dog faeces littering the city’s footpaths.
Council's General Manager, James Roncon, encouraged all residents to be responsible when walking their animal in public.
"Please be considerate of others and take a bag with you and clean up after your animal," he said.
"I've had to call our crews to the CBD to perform clean ups several times in the last few weeks, which has been disappointing.
"We don't have the resources at this time to do continual clean ups, so we really need people to be responsible for their animals."
Failing to clean up after your dog can attract a $275 on the spot fine.
